These claims and expectations are TRAPS. And, they are *easy* to get caught up in as they trigger our basic human survival needs to belong, feel valued, feel worthy, happy, and secure.
And as you attempt to accomplish all of this you'll fall ito more TRAPS such as the I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH TRAP or the DO MORE, BE MORE TRAP.
No matter how good the methods are that you've learned you need the skills to notice, name and neutralize the TRAPS (because you will fall into them. The survival system of your brain will lead you into them.)
Falling into the TRAPS leads to frustration, overwhelm, discouragement, stress and blocks you knowing how to create a rich and meaningful business (and life).
THE FREEDOM TRAP

THE BIG LEAP TRAP: becoming the “go to person” will get you all the clients you ever want.
THE SUCCESS TRAP: creating a 6 figure business will solve all of your problems.
THE MONEY TRAP: making lots of money will make you happy.
I built a multiple 6-figure coaching business empowering women to achieve their life and business goals.
It was amazing. Until it wasn’t.
Every time I created something good it eventually wasn’t good enough.
Every program launch, every program completion, every large event or workshop I completed left me wanting more... and more... and more...
Because no matter how much money, success, or spotlight I got... I STILL felt Incomplete. Unworthy. Unsuccessful.
So, like any skilled addict I continued drinking the kool-aide doing launch after launch after launch... building an even bigger list... writing an even better website... spending enoumous money in marketing photos and video production.
The more successful I wanted to feel...
The more perfect I thought I needed to be...
The more I of a workaholic I became...
the shame, confusion, fear, fatigue, pressure led me to complete physical, emotional and spiritual burnout.
I was shaken... I lost my confidence.
I had to stop.
I stopped marketing and enrolling.
I settled my debts.
Let my team go.
Closed my accounts.
Graduated my clients.
Referred prosepective clients to others.
Stopped mailing the 25,000 actively engaged business owners on my list.
And got a full-time job until I had enough B2B business coaching contracts to sustain me... while I figured out what the heck happened.
I was ensnared in the TRAPS. Practically ALL of them.
The Ego Trap. check!
The Success Trap. check!
The Money Trap. yep! check!
The Expert Trap. that one too!
Oh, and The Perfection Trap. Lest we forget that one.
I did everything "right" to build my business and I was by many definitions "successful."
But the EGO TRAP told me that I wasn't because I wasn't known enough. The MONEY TRAP told me I wasn't because I hadn't achieved 7 Figures. The EXPERT TRAP confirmed I was not because I hadn't written my book yet. The PERFECTION TRAP told me I wasn't because I was making mistakes.
And instead of listening to my market and building the strengths of my business I kept changing things.
The TRAPS falsley increased the gap between where I was and where I thought I needed to be to feel successful, wanted, secure and belonging.
So I needlessly struggled, overworked myself, said yes to too much, created a lot of overhead and eventually closed my doors feeling like a failure.
Now I know that creating a rich and meaningful business is less about strategy and more about inner game: The ability to be unshakably confident to stand in your truth, embrace your strengths, build your business by listening to your market and your inner guidance and to never, ever stray away from your personal values (kinda like feeding Gremlins after midnight. It doesn't end well.)
This includes niching, messaging, branding, and all the ways that you get the message about your service to your audience.
The ability to effectively engage in sales activities that lead to selling (or enrolling) into your services
Deliver high-quality products or programs that fulfill on the promise and commitments made.
Planning, prioritizing, strategizing and time managmnet. Abilty to keep your everything organized.

Because in addition to getting seduced by the TRAPS, ultimately it's your market who "decides" what they want from you and are willing to pay for.
This means is no matter how "proven" the methods are that you are using to grow your business and how skilled you are in using them, it’s your market who will determine how long it takes to build a thriving business and the roadmap for doing so. This requires willingness to "iterate your way to awesome" as my friend Marisa Murgatroyd says (she is one of the best business coaches around BTW).
There is no "fast path to cash," "silver bullet," or "magic formula." As another friend of mine, Adam Urbanski, would say, "You've gotta do the work." (He's another awesome business coach).
As you are testing, tracking and tweaking your offers, you need to receive market feedback with openness, discernment, and without taking it personally.
You can’t make critical feedback about YOU… your worth, your value…
You can't make it mean that you will never be successful.
You can't make it mean that you are stupid, unwanted or a loser.
You can't let the TRAPS fool you into thinking the gap is too wide, deep and far.
You can't let the TRAPS fool you into forgetting what you've accomplished, who you are, and what you stand for...
You can't let the TRAPS distract you from your mission and purpose...
You need to be Unshakably Confident.

The Reality Gap (i see where i want to be and whats possible but i'm stuck in the reality of where i am - which is not where i want to be)
The Freedom Gap (i have a job, a side-gig and i'm builglin my biz on the side. i need more freedom to deveop my business)
The Clarity Gap (I think i'm clear, but then i get confused, i self-doubt, change my mind, think i'm clear)
Need to get comfortable with the GAPS... take valued action to get out of them.
When in the GAP - easy to spin on a CoD... I'm unclear. I feel frstrated... I tell myself XYZ... I adopt disempoing mindset... I take disempowering action...
GAPS and TRAPS
The GAPS (money, freedom, team)
The TRAPS "define" where you want to be - unrealistically. You strive for expert status because you think it will make you a client magnet.
Where you are currenly is UNKNOWN. You want to EXPERT. So you struggle, pressure yourself, study, as fast as you can... to close the GAP NOW.
The TRAPS are the EXPECTATION - focus on the end results. Do this today to get this tomorrow... TRAPS are beliefs. THis = success, happiness, security
The GAPS create the FEELINGS you don't want to feel. in the GAP I'm not happy, successful, secure... but when I close the GAP and GET THERE... I will have these things.
TRAP: Team will do everything for you. You will work less, make more. Feel less stressed AND more successful becuase you have people working for you. You will be the TOP DOG. The ultimate leader. You will have ARRIVED.
GAP: Right now you only have YOU. You are doing it all. You are tired. YOu feel overworked. Resentful.
Cycle of Disempowerment
TRAP: money = security and happiness (you WILL get cuaght up in TRAPS - you WILL spin on COD. Because buildling a business takes time, energy and money, and ultimately its your market that decides (so it requires a lot of rinse and reapeat)
TRIGGERS: not making enough money; client falling off; someone else charging more and gettng it; ec not converting
FEELINGS: insecure, unhappy, frustrated, impatient
THOUGHTS: i'm a loser; this won't work; i need to make money now; i'm going to go broke; I better quit; Get a job
MINDSET: dire straights destitute
BX's: work on the business more; come up with better ideas; update website again; try to get premium prices; work late into the night; take anyone who will pay you; uplevel; invest in better marketing
PLEASE EVERYONE TRAP
REplace TRAPS with Values.
REPLACE + thinking with Defuions/Unhooking/Acceptance
Take meaningful action
Awareness of the results of actions wo taking it personally.
You Do Need to
1.) reduce stress and worry so you can apply your full creative potential to client generating activities and show up rested to facilitate high engagement programs to ideal clients.2.) handle painful feelings and thoughts effectively so you can consistently take valued action toward building your business and supporting your clients.3.) break self-defeating habits so you can establish healthy routines that keep your energy high, your mind focused, and your spirit uplifted.4.) overcome insecurity and self-doubt so you can confidently be seen (and heard), broadcasting your message to those you are meant to serve.
5.) DELETE? recognize and treasure the entire range of emotions as a business owner so you can turn them back into the message system they are designed to be. DELETE?
HERE's what you don't need:
#1: You don't need to follow someone elses "proven formula." Someone elses formula worked for them - their personality, their market, and the problems they help their market resolve. They discovered what worked for them after much trial and error, until their market decided YES - we want that.
#2: You don't need to invest a lot of money into building your business, to attract high paying clients willing to PAY you. The smaratest business owners in the world invest their money WISELY, based upon a Return on Inventment analysis.
#3: You don't need to heal your core wounds to have a successful business. NOBODY would be in a business if this were true. To be alive is to have core wounds. Better to accept that and learn tools to use them in your favor versus try to get rid of them. (If you disagree, take a moment and ask yourself, why you still feel "wounded" from your past after all of the attempts you've made to "heal" them.)
#4: You don't need to feel motivated or passionate to take meaningful action on your business. The ACTION of motivation and passion creahte the FEELINGS of motivation and passion. You can take just ask much action when you "don't feel like it," or feel "uninspired" as when you do.
#5: You don't need to use a special time management, priority setting or planning techniques. You just need commitment and need to work the way your brain works so you can get your Work into the world.
#6: You don't need to identify your weaknesses so you can improve them. Focusing on your strongest strengths leads to a rich and meaningul business you will enjoy for a lifetime.
